Why Fleets Choose Inspiration Fleet

Running a Fleet in the Bay Area

Local conditions shape how a fleet program is built here. Three matter more than most.

A subscription instead of a demand charge

PG&E’s Schedule BEV does something no other rate in this programme’s markets does. In the tariff’s own words, it “replaces the customer charge and traditional maximum kW demand charge with a subscription-based model for monthly kW allocation.” Effective March 1, 2026 a secondary-voltage BEV-2 customer buys capacity in 50 kW blocks at $95.56 a block and pays a $3.82 per kW overage fee only if the subscription is exceeded — once per billing period, not per event. Peak runs 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. every day of the year including weekends, and super off-peak is the middle of the day, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Picking the subscription level is the whole exercise.

Your CCA changes the bill, not the economics

Most Bay counties buy their electricity from a community choice aggregator — Ava in Alameda, MCE across Marin, Contra Costa, Napa and Solano, CleanPowerSF in San Francisco, Silicon Valley Clean Energy and San José Clean Energy in Santa Clara County, Sonoma Clean Power — while PG&E still owns the wires, reads the meter and sends one consolidated bill. Because the BEV subscription is a delivery charge rather than a generation one, a CCA customer pays exactly the same subscription. And PG&E states that its fleet eligibility “includes Direct Access and retail customers, as well as customers receiving power from a Community Choice Aggregator.” The CCA changes a line on the bill, not the depot’s charging economics.

The incentive window here is shut

PG&E’s EV Fleet make-ready programme states plainly that it “is fully subscribed and is no longer accepting applications.” Silicon Valley Power’s commercial charging incentive, worth up to $150,000 a site in Santa Clara, says it “is currently fully subscribed and we are not accepting new applications at this time.” The air district’s Charge! programme is closed and, when open, funds only publicly accessible chargers. Its one open truck programme is limited to fleet sizes of twenty or fewer. A Bay Area fleet of ninety-nine vehicles planning around grant money in 2026 is planning around money that is not there.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets based in San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and throughout the greater Bay Area. Services are delivered through our fleet management platform, our vendor network, and our fleet specialists, not through a branch you need to visit.

No. Inspiration Fleet’s platform is an open ecosystem. You keep the vendors that work for you and we integrate their data, or we recommend partners if you want a change.

A fleet management company manages an organization’s vehicles across their lifecycle so the organization can focus on its core business. Inspiration Fleet plans the fleet, acquires and finances vehicles, manages maintenance, telematics, drivers, fuel, and tolls, and remarkets vehicles at the end of their economic life, with the data from all of it in one platform. That is a managed service, not a software subscription.

Inspiration Fleet is built for fleet-intensive organizations across the nine-county Bay Area. That includes harbor drayage and intermodal fleets serving the Port of Oakland, which moved 2,253,976 twenty-foot equivalent units in 2025 and handles more than 99% of the containerized goods moving through Northern California; distribution and third-party logistics fleets in an East Bay market Kidder Mathews measured at 214.7 million square feet of inventory and 8.7% direct vacancy in the second quarter of 2026; construction fleets moving between job sites across Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties; HVAC, plumbing, and electrical field service fleets crossing bridges and utility territories in a single shift; and healthcare, laboratory, and biotech distribution serving the research and hospital systems concentrated around the bay.

Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets of any composition, from light-duty cars and vans to work trucks and specialty vehicles, for organizations in industries such as construction, field services, healthcare, distribution, higher education, and professional services.

Inspiration Fleet is built for organizations that operate fleets at scale and want a full-service partner rather than a set of point solutions. If your organization manages dozens or hundreds of vehicles, speak with a fleet expert and we will tell you quickly whether we are the right fit.

Fleet Management Coverage in the San Francisco Bay Area

Nationwide Platform, Bay Area Focus

Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets across San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and the surrounding region, from initial assessment through full-scale program management, with dedicated project management and ongoing operational support.

The Bay is a fragmented energy market and the depot’s meter decides which rules apply. PG&E owns the distribution system across almost the whole region, but Santa Clara, Palo Alto and the city of Alameda run their own municipal utilities with their own programmes, and most counties buy generation through a community choice aggregator. Geography costs money here too: a five-axle truck pays $30.50 to cross the San Francisco–Oakland Bay Bridge under the schedule effective January 1, 2026, and $51.25 on the Golden Gate under a separate authority’s schedule effective July 1, 2026 — a bridge where trucks are confined to the eleven-foot curb lane and extra-weight legal-limit vehicles are not permitted at all. Routing is a budget line in this market.

Areas served: San Francisco, Oakland, San Jose, and the greater Bay Area, including Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties, California.
