Running a Fleet in Dallas–Fort Worth

Local conditions shape how a fleet program is built here. Three matter more than most.

Four fifteen-minute intervals set next year’s bill

Once a Metroplex site has recorded 700 kW in any previous billing month, Oncor stops billing its transmission charge on that site’s own monthly peak and starts billing it on 4CP demand — the average of the site’s fifteen-minute demand at the four moments the whole ERCOT grid peaks in June, July, August and September of the previous year, fixed on January 1 and held all year. At the rate effective August 1, 2026 that is $6.050798 per 4CP kW per month. Ten seventy-kilowatt ports is 700 kW. Miss the four intervals and the charge approaches nothing; sit through them and it is fixed for twelve months.

A peaky depot pays more for the same wires

Oncor prices its distribution charge on annual load factor. A secondary-service site above 20 kW running a 0 to 10% load factor pays $9.831092 per billing kW; the same site at 26% or above pays $6.931363 — about 42% less for identical wires. An 80% ratchet sits underneath it, so the billing demand is the higher of this month’s peak or 80% of the highest peak in the preceding eleven months, and one uncontrolled simultaneous-charging event sets a floor under the next year. Primary service above 10 kW has no load-factor tiering at all, at a flat $4.716394 per billing kW against higher fixed charges. Load shape and voltage class are design decisions worth more than the energy price.

Ten times the toll for the same trip

The Metroplex is unusually toll-dense, and the rates stack in two directions. Across every gantry in the North Texas Tollway Authority’s 2025 to 2027 schedule, ZipCash is exactly twice the TollTag rate, and axle classes are exact multiples of the two-axle rate — three axles at twice, four at three times, five at four times, six or more at five times. A six-axle combination billed by ZipCash therefore pays ten times what a two-axle vehicle pays with a tag: at the Dallas North Tollway’s Wycliff gantry, $1.94 becomes $19.40. The doubling is not a routing problem, it is a tag administration problem, and it scales with fleet size and turnover. Rates are fixed through June 30, 2027.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets based in Dallas, Fort Worth, and throughout the greater Metroplex. Services are delivered through our fleet management platform, our vendor network, and our fleet specialists, not through a branch you need to visit.

No. Inspiration Fleet’s platform is an open ecosystem. You keep the vendors that work for you and we integrate their data, or we recommend partners if you want a change.

A fleet management company manages an organization’s vehicles across their lifecycle so the organization can focus on its core business. Inspiration Fleet plans the fleet, acquires and finances vehicles, manages maintenance, telematics, drivers, fuel, and tolls, and remarkets vehicles at the end of their economic life, with the data from all of it in one platform. That is a managed service, not a software subscription.

Inspiration Fleet is built for fleet-intensive organizations across Dallas, Fort Worth, and the eleven-county Metroplex. That includes distribution and third-party logistics fleets in a market where CBRE recorded 9.9 million square feet of net absorption in the second quarter of 2026 against 8.3% vacancy, with 24.0 million square feet under construction across 86 projects; intermodal and drayage fleets working the rail terminals at Alliance, Wylie, Mesquite and the Dallas Intermodal Terminal; construction fleets moving between job sites across Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties; HVAC, plumbing, and electrical field service fleets dispatching across a toll-dense road network; and healthcare and medical supply distribution serving hospital systems across the region.

Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets of any composition, from light-duty cars and vans to work trucks and specialty vehicles, for organizations in industries such as construction, field services, healthcare, distribution, higher education, and professional services.

Inspiration Fleet is built for organizations that operate fleets at scale and want a full-service partner rather than a set of point solutions. If your organization manages dozens or hundreds of vehicles, speak with a fleet expert and we will tell you quickly whether we are the right fit.

Fleet Management Coverage in Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas

Nationwide Platform, Dallas–Fort Worth Focus

Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets across Dallas, Fort Worth, and the surrounding region, from initial assessment through full-scale program management, with dedicated project management and ongoing operational support.

The Metroplex runs on a split energy market: a competitive retail provider sells the electricity and Oncor delivers it under a tariff filed with the Public Utility Commission, and the transmission component of that tariff is nonbypassable, so no supply contract removes it. Oncor publishes no EV rate, no EV rider and no make-ready rebate — a full-text search of the tariff returns none — so nothing here subsidises getting the design wrong. On the vehicle side, Texas ended safety inspections for non-commercial vehicles but, in the Department of Public Safety’s words, all commercial vehicles in all counties are still required to obtain a passing safety inspection; and the state’s electric-vehicle registration surcharge is written to apply only at 10,000 pounds gross weight or less, so it never reaches a medium- or heavy-duty electric truck.

Areas served: Dallas, Fort Worth, and the greater Metroplex, including Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Ellis, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Parker, Rockwall, and Wise counties, Texas.
