Running a Fleet in Indianapolis

Local conditions shape how a fleet program is built here. Three matter more than most.

Four interstates and a beltway

I-65, I-69, I-70, and I-74 all converge on Indianapolis, and I-465 rings it. A fleet based here spends a large share of its day outside the metro by design, which puts the weight on national maintenance network coverage and a single view of vehicles that are rarely all in the same county.

Electric and hybrid vehicles carry a supplemental fee

Indiana charges a supplemental registration fee on top of the ordinary one, collected at first registration and at every renewal. The BMV’s current fee chart lists $242.00 for an electric vehicle and $81.00 for a hybrid. At fleet scale that is a line to budget rather than a surprise at renewal, and it belongs in the total cost of ownership case before the first order goes in.

A charging rebate written for commercial fleets

AES Indiana’s commercial charger rebate pays $6,000 per port for Level 2 or DC fast chargers under 50 kW and $37,000 per port for DC fast chargers of 50 kW or more, capped at 50% of eligible project costs, up to $150,000 per property and $500,000 per customer account. The programme requires that chargers be used primarily for fueling commercially owned and operated EVs, including fleet vehicles used for delivery, transit, and other on-road commercial operations, and funding is first come, first served.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets based in Indianapolis and throughout central Indiana. Services are delivered through our fleet management platform, our vendor network, and our fleet specialists, not through a branch you need to visit.

No. Inspiration Fleet’s platform is an open ecosystem. You keep the vendors that work for you and we integrate their data, or we recommend partners if you want a change.

A fleet management company manages an organization’s vehicles across their lifecycle so the organization can focus on its core business. Inspiration Fleet plans the fleet, acquires and finances vehicles, manages maintenance, telematics, drivers, fuel, and tolls, and remarkets vehicles at the end of their economic life, with the data from all of it in one platform. That is a managed service, not a software subscription.

Inspiration Fleet is built for fleet-intensive organizations across central Indiana. That includes distribution and logistics fleets working the interstates that meet here; manufacturing and industrial service fleets moving crews and material between plants; HVAC, plumbing, and electrical field service fleets that need technicians on site and parts on the truck; construction fleets working across a metro that keeps expanding outward; and healthcare, higher education, and public-sector fleets that answer to procurement rules as much as to operations.

Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets of any composition, from light-duty cars and vans to work trucks and specialty vehicles, for organizations in industries such as construction, field services, healthcare, distribution, higher education, and professional services.

Inspiration Fleet is built for organizations that operate fleets at scale and want a full-service partner rather than a set of point solutions. If your organization manages dozens or hundreds of vehicles, speak with a fleet expert and we will tell you quickly whether we are the right fit.

Fleet Management Coverage in Indianapolis, Indiana

Nationwide Platform, Indianapolis Focus

Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets across Indianapolis and central Indiana, from initial assessment through full-scale program management, with dedicated project management and ongoing operational support.

Indiana’s supplemental registration fee on electric and hybrid vehicles is collected by the BMV at first registration and at every renewal, and the statute excludes vehicles subject to the state’s motor carrier fuel tax. Which of your vehicles falls on which side of that line is a registration question before it is a tax question. We handle that administration as part of the program and show the whole fleet in one view.

Areas served: Indianapolis and central Indiana, including Marion, Hamilton, Hendricks, Johnson, Boone, Hancock, Morgan, and Madison counties, Indiana.
