Running a Fleet in Jacksonville

Local conditions shape how a fleet program is built here. Three matter more than most.

A demand charge with no look-back

On JEA’s general service demand schedule, demand is billed at $8.40 per kW and the billing demand for the month is simply the maximum integrated fifteen-minute metered demand in that month. There is no eleven-month look-back and no percentage floor. That is genuinely unusual — in most markets we work, a single uncontrolled peak sets a floor under a year of bills. Here the meter resets every month.

Overnight demand is billed only above your daytime peak

On JEA’s time-of-day demand schedule, on-peak demand is $8.53 per kW and additional off-peak demand $4.93 per kW — where the additional off-peak demand is defined as the amount by which off-peak demand exceeds on-peak demand. On-peak runs 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays from November through March, and noon to 9 p.m. on weekdays from April through October. A depot charging overnight is billed only on the increment above the load it already carries in the day.

A vehicle port, not just a container port

JAXPORT moved 506,237 automobiles and 1,388,841 TEUs across 1,611 vessel calls in its 2025 fiscal year. Finished-vehicle logistics is a different operating profile from container drayage — different dwell, different handling, different duty cycles — and fleets serving it plan around the vessel schedule rather than the gate queue.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets based in Jacksonville and throughout northeast Florida. Services are delivered through our fleet management platform, our vendor network, and our fleet specialists, not through a branch you need to visit.

No. Inspiration Fleet’s platform is an open ecosystem. You keep the vendors that work for you and we integrate their data, or we recommend partners if you want a change.

A fleet management company manages an organization’s vehicles across their lifecycle so the organization can focus on its core business. Inspiration Fleet plans the fleet, acquires and finances vehicles, manages maintenance, telematics, drivers, fuel, and tolls, and remarkets vehicles at the end of their economic life, with the data from all of it in one platform. That is a managed service, not a software subscription.

Inspiration Fleet is built for fleet-intensive organizations across northeast Florida. That includes port and finished-vehicle logistics fleets working the river terminals; distribution and last-mile fleets running the I-95 and I-10 corridors; construction fleets operating across a consolidated city that covers most of a county; HVAC, plumbing, and electrical field service fleets that need technicians on site and parts on the truck; and healthcare systems, universities, and public-sector fleets that answer to procurement rules as much as to operations.

Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets of any composition, from light-duty cars and vans to work trucks and specialty vehicles, for organizations in industries such as construction, field services, healthcare, distribution, higher education, and professional services.

Inspiration Fleet is built for organizations that operate fleets at scale and want a full-service partner rather than a set of point solutions. If your organization manages dozens or hundreds of vehicles, speak with a fleet expert and we will tell you quickly whether we are the right fit.

Fleet Management Coverage in Jacksonville, Florida

Nationwide Platform, Jacksonville Focus

Inspiration Fleet manages commercial fleets across Jacksonville and northeast Florida, from initial assessment through full-scale program management, with dedicated project management and ongoing operational support.

JEA is owned by the City of Jacksonville and serves the major portion of Duval County, including Atlantic Beach and Baldwin, along with Orange Park and parts of St. Johns and Clay counties — so which utility meters a depot is an address question before it is a rate question. Its filed tariff also contains no EV-specific rate schedule, which means the lever here is choosing correctly between the schedules that do exist rather than waiting for one written for charging. We handle that groundwork as part of the program and show the whole fleet in one view.

Areas served: Jacksonville and northeast Florida, including Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau, and Baker counties, Florida.
